From log to spoon
Based in Berlin & the Black Forest, I carve wooden spoons for intentional everyday use.
My carving journey found its beginning in 2021. After two years of solely working with clay, I searched for a craft that required less infrastructure. I found it in the primitive art of carving, a slow and focused craft that transforms a humble piece of wood into a beautiful and functional object using only a few hand tools: Folding saw, axe, carving knife, hook knife.
I source most of the wood myself, usually from local storm-fallen or damaged fruit trees, giving each piece a strong sense of place and connection. With a little care, wooden spoons can be companions for life, still, the material always remains part of a natural cycle as it eventually can become soil from which new things can grow.
