Based at the southern foothills of the Black Forest, I make wooden spoons for intentional everyday use.
My carving journey found its beginning in 2021. After two years of solely working with clay, I longed for a craft that required less infrastructure. I found it in the primitive art of carving, a slow and focused craft that transforms a humble piece of wood into a beautiful and functional object using only a few hand tools: Folding saw, axe, carving knife, hook knife.
I source the wood from local fruit trees: Branches that were cut back, storm-fallen or damaged pieces. Each one has a strong sense of place and connection.
With a little care, wooden spoons can be companions for life. The material, however, always remains part of a natural cycle as it can be composted – broken down to nourish new life.
